I'm 19 and I'm a cub leader, does this mean I cannot join Network?
No, as long as you are between the ages of 17 and a half and 25, anybody can become a member of Scout Network. In addition to this some Network members may also be part of an Activity Support Team.
I can't drive, so I find it difficult in getting to the meetings...
The location of each meeting varies so that is accessible to everyone. Plus members that can drive are often happy to pick up those who have transport issues.
When do you meet?
We usually meet every other Tuesday but occasionally at the weekends due to the type of activity.
Do I have to attend all meetings?
No. You can come to meetings to suit and that will fit in with any other commitments. For example, some members only attend when home from university, other members attend only meetings and activities that are at the weekend due to family or work commitments.
Are there any costs?
£1 subs per meeting you attend and occasionally a little more depending on the activity and location of the meeting. In addition to this capitation must be paid once a year (usually around £30). If you are just a Network member, this means you will have to pay this, but if you are a leader, your group will usually pay this on your behalf (but this is always worth checking just to be on the safe side).
Is there a uniform?
Yes. It is the general leaders uniform, so if you are already a leader you will already have one of these. Otherwise the uniform can be purchased from certain shops, such as Brookes (in Doncaster), or any Scout Shops or online:

What sort of things can I do in Network?
You can complete a number of awards, such as Queens Scout Award and Duke of Edinburgh's Award. You can attend a number of Network camps up and down the country, such as The Festival and Alton Towers Camp and you can even apply to attend International camps as Staff.
Also, if there is any activity you would like to do or try, it can always be added to the program. Network is what you make of it. The more activities and stuff you do and camps you attend, the better the experience you will get out of it!
